Shying off from tackling Islamic Fundamentalism

Hi friends-

Today i was tickling my idle brain to come up with some topic to write something about.
It crossed me why not write something about Islamic Fundamentalism.

Coming to the origins of this, from what i could gather it all started from the middle east where there were/are regimes which gag the voice of their populace. The countries and rules with the discovery of oil and natural gas in early 20th century started minting money and cared less for the welfare of their own people. The disgruntled populace slowly started drifting towards other sources of comfort.

The institutions which were imparting free education were imparting more dangerous kind of knowledge, knowledge for destruction and doom.

Slowly the clerics started making influence on the brains of the elders and this percolated down to the impressionable youth and kids. People with less income and others who couldnt afford costly education (sic!!!) had to visit the madarsas, which were becoming breeding grounds for extreme ideology.

Countries like US and UK never bothered to warn the regimes lest they lose the grip on them and thus miss the precious resource. Countries with so much wealth could have easily spent a lot on welfare for general public. There are nations like UAE where people are so wealthy and have progressive ideas. The people of UAE are as relegious as Osama and others but yes they are not zealots. Again this is because the regimes in UAE were and are liberal and progressive with their thoughts.

Because of the regional politics and other reasons some countries which have islamic fundamentalist rulers started poking their noses into each others boundaries supporting one sect against another and what we see today is the turmoil gradually engulfing the whole region.

With the media now being very advanced and they creating a larger than life image of some of these zealots the cancer of fundamentalism has started spreading across the globe. People are more than willing to support these zealots as they see it as a vent to show their anger against the regimes etc.

Islamic fundamentalism started rearing its head in India for a all different reason together. Majority of muslims in India are among the poor strata. They dont have resources to come up. The political parties representing them see to it that they dont come up lest they lose their votebank. The more illiterate the people are, the more advantageous for the parties. Slowly but steadily this caused them to be more ignorant and made them culpable to fall into the trap of fundamentalism. And with the appeasement of this section the majority Hindus started feeling sidelined and so they also started asserting themselves. One thing led to another and it led to demolition of Babri Masjid. One thing led to another and thus there was fertile ground ready for the ideal breeding ground for fundamentalism.

There was always half hearted approaches for overcoming these hurdles by our politicians. Why? Because our politicians dont have the WILL and BACKBONE to tackle these problems.

How else can it be possible that a minister( from UP) gives a statement that if so and so cartoonist is killed he will give 5 crores and today he is still continuing as a minister. And his chief minister defends him saying that he was aggrieved so there is nothing wrong in that.

Is this the religious tolerance our freedom fighters envisaged for us? Appeasement of one community is leading to more criminal ideology as they being votebank are never dealt according to law. How else can a criminal and murderer be a MLA/MP and goverment treats him like a 5 * guest. Are these not solid cases for nurturing fundamentalism and criminalisation of a part of society.

Is there a remedy for all these. Yes. We need politicians who have spine and backbone to tackle these problems firmly.Take the case of Australia where the politicians had the guts to take the bull by its horns. Politicians across the spectrum came together to give strong rebuke to a fundamental cleric, who dared to spread his cancerous ideology. And they nipped it in bud and he is out of his job now.

So unless and until people in India hindu, muslims, sikh, isai stand up in unison against this Cancer called Islamic fundamentalism can't be rooted out of our country and it wont be long before we are ruled by the likes of Taliban.

So is there a way out?

Definitely for every problem there is a way out, provided we have the will to do it.
1) Eradication of illiteracy.
2) Moderanisation of Madrasas.
3) Political will.

These are just a few of the solutions....
